The Society for Arabian Studies was founded in 1987 to support and encourage research in the
Arabian peninsula in the fields of archaeology, history, culture and the environment.
The Society publishes an annual Bulletin, organizes regular lectures, and supports publications
on and field projects in the region.

Notice:
At the Society's May 2010 Annual General Meeting it was agreed by a
quorum of the membership present that merger with the Seminar for Arabian
Studies would go ahead. It was agreed at an Extraordinary General Meeting
on 23rd July 2010 that the name of the new organisation would be the
British Foundation for the Study of Arabia. Final details are now being
put in place by the Interim Executive Committee and a new website will be
designed.
