At the Society's May 2010 Annual General Meeting it was agreed by a quorum of the membership present that merger with the Seminar for Arabian Studies would go ahead. It was agreed at an Extraordinary General Meeting on 23rd July 2010 that the name of the new organisation would be the British Foundation for the Study of Arabia.
